Qualification Conditions and Rules are as explained in the "Graduation Requirements" section.
Profile of The Programme
Vision To be a department preferred by outstanding students, which takes an active role in solving problems encountered in our country's service and production sectors using contemporary methods, where industrial engineers possessing these capabilities are educated, and which is recognized first in Turkey and then globally for its research and education quality. Mission To educate qualified industrial engineers who can develop ideas and engineering applications that will be accepted on national and international platforms; who master the systems approach and possess a critical mindset; who observe societal benefit and ethical values; and who, alongside an academic staff that has actualized university-industry collaboration, can produce knowledge and technology in parallel with the world. Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) PEO 1: Graduates take roles as engineers, specialists, or managers in the design, operation, and improvement of systems and processes in national and international companies, across private and public sectors. PEO 2: Working in manufacturing, service, and decision-support systems, they execute and manage initiatives aimed at increasing the product and service quality of enterprises by applying productivity principles. PEO 3: They carry out process design, planning, and management activities with cost awareness; and take part in studies that contribute to the accumulation of national technology and innovation within the institutions they work for. PEO 4: Using decision-support systems with a strategic and holistic perspective, they assume pioneering/leading roles in entrepreneurial ventures or R&D activities that generate innovative solutions to complex problems faced by their organizations. PEO 5: They take responsibility as project managers or team leaders in multidisciplinary professional work environments; adhering to professional ethics, they execute and manage projects that create societal benefit while observing environmental awareness and sustainability principles. General Information Industrial Engineering is an engineering discipline responsible for the design, production, and improvement of all types of manufacturing and service systems, generally defined as production. The undergraduate Industrial Engineering program spans 4 years and is completed in 8 semesters according to the course credit system. The curriculum of the Industrial Engineering Department encompasses foundational knowledge such as production management, operations research, and management information systems. The courses in the program and their contents are continuously updated in consideration of technological developments. Industrial engineers can find employment in all areas of manufacturing and/or service operations within the public and private sectors. Because it aims to explore ways of achieving success with limited resources, Industrial Engineering is a field whose importance has significantly increased in our country in recent years. Industrial engineers are highly preferred for numerous roles in public and private companies.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Students graduating from the Industrial Engineering Department are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to hold mid- and senior-level management positions in any company they join. After graduation, our students can work in both the production and service sectors, primarily in data analysis, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, energy, software, education and consulting, telecommunications, healthcare, insurance, banking, and finance. Industrial Engineering graduates work in the software development, production planning, quality assurance, logistics, supply chain, purchasing, information technology (IT), marketing, customer relationship management, human resources, research and development, project planning, finance, and accounting departments of private sector firms and public institutions. Depending on the interests and professional orientations they pursue both during their academic studies and extracurricular lives, the variety of business areas and sectors available to our graduating students continues to expand day by day.
Access to Further Studies
Industrial Engineering graduates may pursue graduate studies in the same field or in other disciplines that accept graduates of this program, provided they meet the admission requirements set forth by the respective institutions.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students who register for the relevant course at the beginning of the semester must attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the applied courses in order to take the final exam. Students are subject to midterm and final exams for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (the scores obtained from measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz, etc. can also be evaluated as the midterm exam grade) to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution to the end of the semester exam is 60%. For the measurement and evaluation criteria of each course, you can click on the course name in the Curriculum (below). You can review the relevant regulations and guidelines.
