History
The School of Health Sciences was established in the 2020–2021 academic year. The Department of Nursing was opened one year later, in the 2021–2022 academic year, within the School of Health Sciences and began its educational activities. In the spring semester of the 2022–2023 academic year, following the transformation of the School of Health Sciences into the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Nursing continued its educational activities under the Faculty of Health Sciences. The curriculum of the Department of Nursing is structured in accordance with national and international higher education standards, the quality assurance approach of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK), relevant accreditation criteria, and the core curriculum for nursing education. The educational process is carried out through a holistic approach aimed at developing students’ professional qualifications in terms of knowledge, skills, and competencies. Within this framework, students’ professional knowledge base is developed through theoretical and conceptual courses; their professional skills are supported through laboratory and simulation practices; and their competencies in applying acquired knowledge and skills in real healthcare settings are developed through clinical and hospital practices. In this way, the program aims to educate nurses who are able to transfer theoretical knowledge into practice, possess clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills, are sensitive to ethical principles and patient safety, adopt evidence-based practices, and are capable of fulfilling their professional responsibilities both independently and as members of a team.
